چکیده مقاله |
Iran is one of the oldest states in the world that have existed over 2,500 years ago. It was known as Persia until 1935. It has almost 100 billion barrels of proven oil reserves. Despite, producing almost four million barrels of oil per day much of which is sold at the international market it has not produced the level of wealth one finds in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and other countries within the Persian Gulf. However, in the contemporary era, it has not taken globalization as a primary economic issue. Therefore, the aim of this study is to examine the impediments to Iran’s development strategies in the contemporary era of globalization within the international political economy. Data for this study were collected from various secondary sources like textbooks, Journal articles and internet sources, while content analysis was used to analyze the data collected. This study argues that Iran has been beset by violent conflict for years. Besides, misguided state economic priorities by past Iran leaders and reluctant to open the economy to foreign investors have been responsible for the economic stagnation of the country over the years. Lastly, this study suggests among other things that the total closure of Iran economy in the contemporary global economy will continue to make Iran miss out of the numerous economic benefits accrue from globalization. |
